Some Facebook pages in the Lawrence community are buzzing today (Tuesday, Dec. 13) with what may or may not be the current Staples store in the Lawrence Shopping Center when it closes its doors in early January.
There have been many rumors lately.
I spoke to a store employee a few weeks ago when I heard the news of the closing (last open January 6th) and he told me that employees had heard rumors that it might become some sort of trampoline park or LA. Fitness to be built at the other end of Lawrence shopping pre-pandemic (next to Lidl, where Huffman Goose and Goodes Furniture once stood).

Another recent rumor is that a carpet store is occupying the site and someone else posted today (Tuesday, December 13th) that it will be Office Depot. The person posting it on a private social Facebook page seemed to have the scoop, but when I tried to confirm the rumor I came up blank.
In another Facebook group, it was revealed that the owners of the Lawrence Shopping Center are not stoned yet.
Obviously, there are many businesses that inquire about the location, including Office Depot and LA Fitness The new lease is yet to be signed.
Meanwhile, merchandise sales continue at Staples. Once the Lawrence location closes, the next closest staple will be in the Windsor Green Shopping Center (where Whole Foods is located) on Route 1 South in West Windsor.
