UPDATE 11:25 PM MONDAY, DEC. 12: Westbound Interstate 70 at the Glenwood Springs exit reopened Monday night after closing for several hours following a crash.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 5 a.m. Tuesday, but the snow is expected to continue through Wednesday.

Highway 13 closed due to vehicle fire

Colorado Highway 13 north of Rifle is closed northbound Monday night due to a vehicle fire, CDOT reports.

Closure area is between JQS Road and Piceance Creek Road (9 miles north of Rifle) at mile marker 13. Lower speeds are recommended.

Roads in the area are reported to be slippery in places due to a winter storm that moved into northwestern Colorado Monday afternoon.

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction is calling snow showers likely through Monday night and early Tuesday, mainly after 3 a.m., with a possible snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches in the Glenwood Springs area.

The snow is expected to continue through Tuesday with another inch of additional snow accumulation.
