Another winter storm heads West

A series of winter storms dumped up to 5 feet of snow across parts of the West over the weekend, and now another storm could bring even more snow to the region. Gusty winds, rain and snow are expected in the mountains Thursday before the big storm hits this weekend. Rain is possible along the coast, but in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, another 5 feet of snow is possible. The FOX Forecast Center has warned that traveling through the mountain passes will be treacherous.

Winter weather advisories have been issued for parts of the Plains and Midwest as a storm system brings mixed winter weather across the region. Freezing weather is possible on the Plains, while up to 6 inches of snow is possible in a narrow stretch between southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa all the way to Wisconsin, including Milwaukee.

Homeowners already feeling the heat as energy costs rise

Allison Cekay, from Illinois, said she has noticed her home energy costs have increased. She said she paid $309 in November to heat her house. Last November, she paid just $167. The Energy Information Administration has warned of an increase this year for natural gas customers, but Cekay’s bill is already exceeding those projections. It seems that most Americans feel the same shock as Cekay.
