Severe weather possible Wednesday

Escambia County Director of Emergency Management David Adams said confidence is “increasing” in severe weather forecasts for our area Wednesday and Wednesday night (December 14).

“This is the latest from the National Weather Service in Mobile on the possibility of severe weather Wednesday afternoon and evening,” Adams said. “Confidence for this is currently low to medium, but it is increasing. Keep an eye on the forecast and changing weather conditions.”

Summary/News: Time remains constant, with youThe best time for strong to severe thunderstorm potential is Wednesday and Wednesday night (more specifically Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night). The potential threats and impacts of severe weather for our area have not changed.

  • WHAT: Potential for damaging winds and some tornadoes. Localized heavy rains will also be possible.
  • WHEN: Wednesday and Wednesday nights, more specifically from Wednesday afternoon to Wednesday night.
  • WHERE: The threat of damaging wind will be throughout our area. The tornado threat, while possible throughout the area, will be more likely along our coastal counties.
  • CONFIDENCE: Low to medium confidence, but increasing.
