New York Weather: Heavy rain, an inch or more, headed for the city | Bot To News

NEW YORK CITY — Forgetting an umbrella will be a recipe for regret for the next two days in New York City, forecasters warn.

More than an inch of rain could fall between Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

The rain is likely to start after 1 p.m. Tuesday and could drop as much as a quarter of an inch during the afternoon, according to the forecast.

And even more rain could fall Tuesday night, carrying a 90 percent chance of precipitation, according to the forecast.

“New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch are possible,” the forecast says.

But luckily, so far the city appears to be prepared to avoid the widespread dangerous weather forecast for parts of New Jersey and nearby states.

However, New Yorkers can still expect some humid weather. The rain is likely to continue through Wednesday, mostly before 1 p.m., according to the forecast.

Thursday’s forecast is decidedly drier, but rain could return Friday night, forecasters warn.
