Mikey Musumeci to Defend the World Championship against Saiyan Curtech on Prime Video 6 | Bot To News

Reigning ONE Flyweight Submission Grappling World Champion Mikey Musumeci is set to defend his belt for the first time, and he faces exactly the kind of opponent he asked for.

In the co-main event of ONE on Prime Video 6: Superbon vs. Allazov, the BJJ ace known as “Darth Rigatoni” takes on Sambo World Champion Sayan Khertek.

An exciting fashion clash, their January 13 show will take place at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, and will mark the Russian grappler’s promotional debut.

Meanwhile, this will be Musumesi’s third appearance in the ring after defeating Kleber Souza in their triple match last September to capture the grappling belt at ONE’s promotion’s inaugural flyweight presentation on Prime Video 2.

Shortly after, the jiu-jitsu phenom made waves by calling a match against the world’s top sambo player in his weight class, sparking a growing rivalry between the disciplines.

Enter Khertek. The Russian star, a 2022 sambo world champion, is happy to answer Musumeci’s call.

While the 35-year-old may be new to the ring and wrestling no-gi submissions, he boasts a long and impressive resume that includes a second sambo world title since 2017.

If “Darth Rigatoni” can get past Khertek and successfully defend his ONE Flyweight Submission Grappling World Championship, he will be ahead of jiu-jitsu’s command over Sambo.

Through a trio of intriguing BJJ vs. Sambo matches that have taken place in the circle, all three have culminated in a submission from the jiu-jitsu player.
