Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Offers Winter Weather Tips | Bot To News

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – With winter approaching, it comes with many dangers and also requires preparation. Roland L. Kramer, deputy chief of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, has some tips before a storm looms Tuesday.

“Stay home if you can,” Kramer said. “If you’re on the highway, take some extra time out of your commute and slow down. Always buckle up. I would bring some extra blankets to make sure their cell phones are charged, and that kind of thing is a lot like food and water.”

The roads are expected to be icy, and if you plan to travel, you can check 511 Nebraska for road updates, closures, etc.

Kramer also warned about potential dangers in the home.

“Be careful if you’re using electric heaters and that kind of thing,” Kramer said. “Don’t use extension cords if you’re using that kind of thing. That’s a lot of pressure on those cables, and we don’t want house fires on that kind of thing.”
