Getting ready for the Fashion Awards with Elsa Hosk | Bot To News

The annual fashion awards returned to the Royal Albert Hall last night, celebrating the industry’s brightest talents and their work over the past 12 months.

Among the well-dressed guest list was model Elsa Hosk, presented by Flannels this year, who told us it was one of her favorite events of the year to attend. “I love celebrating passion,” Hosk told us from his car on the way to the venue. “I think it’s one of the best events in London and you get to catch up with all the designers. Everyone wears the best suits, it’s just fabulous.”

Below, we chatted with Hosk about her love of fashion, her go-to look for getting ready, and what makes her feel confident on the red carpet.

What’s the inspiration behind your outfit for tonight’s awards?

“I’m wearing a custom-made Miu Miu suit. It’s a bra with a matching long skirt, which I think is mine. It’s the Miu Miu we’ve been loving since the runway, but this time it’s glittery, and with the belts leather we’ve seen popular make a really cool contrast. I love the sea foam green color, I don’t always wear color on the red carpet so I’m really excited to wear this. We’ve been seeing Miu Miu everywhere [this year] and my dress is a kind of red carpet version.”

What makes Miu Miu fit your style so well?

“Miu Miu had such a moment this past year, so for me, it was really exciting to see everything they did and what they put on the runway. It was such a creative and iconic moment in time for the brand. It’s also fun! My stylist and I saw this dress and immediately felt it was the right one; it was the goal dress and it fit perfectly. It was meant to be.”

How involved are you in the styling process?

“I’ve always been very specific when it comes to the red carpet – sometimes I even do it on my own. I do all my street style, I don’t have a stylist day-to-day. It’s really fun for me how I love styling and looking at catwalks to see what all the designers are doing each season So it’s definitely a very close working relationship when I work with my stylist Dani. [Michelle].

“This time she sent me photos of different looks from different designers and I think she knows me well enough to know that that was the look I was going to gravitate towards. Accessories-wise, everything was going to be Miu. Miu. With the jewelry we had more freedom, so it was a collaborative process: we try everything and see what works and what doesn’t. When it comes to hair and makeup, I always start with the clothes and then I see what’s going to work in the hair and makeup.”

What kind of clothes make you feel more confident?

“It’s very different when it comes to the red carpet compared to my personal way of dressing on a day-to-day basis, where I’m very comfortable and everything is kind of oversized and curvy and doesn’t show off my body as much. When it comes to the red carpet , I’m the opposite – it’s almost like an alter ego and I like to go all out. If you want it to feel like a moment and inspire people, then you have to wear something that makes a statement, whether it’s through what you’re wearing or your hairstyle and makeup I love to have fun and be very creative I get to be sexy and in my everyday life I am [more laidback]. It’s like the complete opposite.”

How has your style evolved over the years?

“I’ve become more timeless in my day-to-day dressing. I’ve never been someone who buys a lot from fashion brands and instead gravitate towards vintage or investing in really high-end, good-quality pieces, so I have to buy less for my wardrobe- clothes. I think that’s become more important to me as I’ve gotten older; I’m appreciating the pieces that stay in my wardrobe forever versus the ones that I’ll wear once. I’m becoming more aware and away from trends.”

How has your red carpet confidence developed?

“A lot. My knowledge of fashion has grown and so have the people I work with and the team I have now. It’s so amazing and amazing when you find the right people who share the same vision as you. The whole thing pulls together and makes us feel great more comfortable to go out and really serve.”

What has been your most memorable fashion moment in recent years?

“When I launched my own brand earlier this year. It was a huge step into something I’ve always dreamed of doing. All the things I’ve learned over the years came together in this one brand. It was a really big moment for me.

“I’ve always loved clothes. Being a model, you try on more clothes than anyone else and you start to understand fabrics, lace and what looks good on the body in terms of proportions and materials. I’ve worked with amazing designers.” stylists and photographers, so I tried to incorporate all those lessons into the design of my collections.”

What is your ideal setup to prepare?

“It’s all about the music. When you’re working, you can feel stressed when the hair and make-up are late because there’s never enough time. So for me, it’s about having a nice atmosphere. We set up in Chiltern. Firehouse, which is one of my favorite hotels in london it has a really good atmosphere and the music is always on point my friend does the music for the hotel so i arrived with the best songs playing the service is always wonderful and you can take it easy with a coffee “.

Who have you always looked up to and why?

“There are so many. Marilyn Monroe, of course, what an icon. I love Jane Birkin’s style, she has a French girl, sexy, cool, with such an effortless vibe. I also think Zoë Kravitz always looks amazing on the red carpet. But there are so many people who have amazing style that don’t necessarily look alike mine style, but that I just admire. People doing their own thing.”
