  • Widespread rain overnight
  • Scattered showers on Wednesday
  • Rain to snow/mix for Thursday

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – The rain will move into southern Wisconsin tonight and become widespread overnight. Temperatures won’t drop much tonight, allowing us to continue to see rain instead of any winter precipitation.

Wednesday won’t be a full washout as there will be a few breaks in the rain, but scattered showers will hold through most of the day. Highs will be light once again, in the mid 40s. Winds will remain strong from the southeast gusting to 30-35 mph at times. Rainfall totals in the southern half of the state are expected to be 1 to 2 inches.

The rain will continue through Wednesday night, but as temperatures cool Thursday morning, we will start to see some of that rain change to a mix of rain and snow.

Be sure to check road conditions on Thursday morning, as wet surfaces can become slippery. Temperatures will continue to cool during the day and we will continue to see some light snow showers. More moisture will engulf this system as it comes out, keeping snow in the forecast for Friday as well. Cold air will also enter through the rear of this system. We will see high temperatures staying in the 20s through the weekend and into next week, with low temperatures in the late teens and in the single digits.
